At its Annual Gala on July 25, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP) honored ADL’s Pacific Southwest Region for our extensive work bringing Asian and Jewish leaders together in Los Angeles.  In 2006, ADL’s Pacific Southwest Region founded the Asian Jewish Initiative as a partnership with five of the most prominent non-profit organizations serving the Asian American communities, including LEAP.  The Initiative advances alliances and partnerships between Asian and Jewish communities in Los Angeles and fosters a positive environment for open and frank discussion about topics of mutual concern.

Accepting LEAP’s Community Award, Regional Director Amanda Susskind described the Initiative, stating, “This is a fun but it is also important group.  In times of crisis, we turn to each other as trusted sources.  Today, with the terrible crisis in Israel, the Jewish community faces an upsurge of virulent anti-Semitism….We ask you as our partners, to stand with us in this difficult time.”
