Distinguished community leaders, Shirley Wang, Founder and CEO, Plastpro, Inc., Walter Wang, Chairman and CEO, JM Eagle, and Meredith Jackson, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, TCW, will be honored for excellence in their professional fields and philanthropic endeavors at ADL’s 2018 Annual Gala Celebration. Hosted by actor Lisa Edelstein, with a performance by the UCLA Bruin Marching Band, the event will take place on Tuesday, December 4 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 6:30 p.m.
ADL will present the Humanitarian Award to Shirley and Walter Wang. Walter Wang is Chairman and CEO of JM Eagle, the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic pipe. Shirley Wang is Founder and CEO of Plastpro Inc., a leading provider of fiberglass doors. Beyond their professional endeavors, the Wangs have supported numerous cross-cultural and philanthropic activities around the world: leading support of efforts to provide clean water to communities in developing countries; and supporting the China AIDS Initiative, a program that has reached over 500 million people. Shirley is on the boards of the UCLA Foundation and the Harvard-Westlake School. Walter is on the boards of the Police Foundation and the Drug Enforcement Administration Education Foundation. They established an endowed chair in pediatric surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, funded six attorney positions in domestic violence at Asian Americans Advancing Justice, and funded Wang Hall at the Harvard-Westlake School. The Wangs have each been awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for their philanthropic endeavors.
ADL will present the Jurisprudence Award to Meredith Jackson. Meredith joined TCW as Executive Vice President and General Counsel in 2013. Prior to joining TCW, she co-chaired the transactional law group at Irell & Manella. Meredith is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and a member of the Board of Governors of the Financial Lawyers Conference. She has served in numerous leadership roles in the Business Law Sections of both the American Bar Association and the California Bar Association. She has been repeatedly named as a “Superlawyer,” one of the Best Lawyers in America, Best Attorneys in Los Angeles, and Preeminent Women Attorneys. Meredith has campaigned to support diversity and empowerment of women throughout her career. She is a member of the Los Angeles Women’s Leadership Council and of the Board of Overseers of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Meredith earned her AB at Princeton University and her JD at UC Hastings College of the Law.
