“Immigration Reform Update: Developments and Consequences” was hosted by ADL’s Latino Jewish Roundtable and Asian Jewish Initiative on February 12 at the ADL office. Angelica Salas, Executive Director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, gave a comprehensive overview and forecast of the ongoing Immigration Reform process. ADL’s Investigative Researcher and Director of Special Projects gave a special report on anti-immigrant extremism. The program included an interactive discussion between the speakers and with the audience.
The group was encouraged to live tweet about the program as it took place. After the event, ADL issued an action alert asking the participants to write to their Congressional representatives urging them to reject a rollback of the President’s recent executive action on immigration reform. ADL supports Immigration Reform that creates a pathway to citizenship for immigrants, builds safeguards against bias and discrimination, and extends equal rights to all families.

The Latino Jewish Roundtable was founded in Fall 1992 as a partnership between ADL and business leaders from the Latino and Jewish communities. The Asian Jewish Initiative was founded by ADL in 2006 as a partnership with the Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles, Japanese American National Museum, Korean American Coalition, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics and Search to Involve Pilipino Americans. Since that time, these groups have brought together members of the business, civic, academic and interfaith communities to engage in a variety of innovative programs and activities that include political, social, religious and cultural components.
