ADL Honors Valley’s Mitch Dunitz, Leonard Comden and Steve Wasserman at the 30th Annual ADL/El Caballero Golf Tournament

  • July 29, 2013

The Anti-Defamation League will partner with El Caballero Country Club for the 30th Annual ADL/El Caballero Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 11. At the event, ADL will honor Mitch Dunitz with the Sam Saltsman Award and Leonard Comden and Steve Wasserman of Wasserman, Comden, Casselman and Esensten, LLP with the Distinguished Community Service Award. ADL is pleased to celebrate these three honorees for their work in the community and their commitments to philanthropy.

Mitch Dunitz has been an active participant in many niches of the Los Angeles community. He has held leadership positions on ADL’s Regional Board, the Advisory Board for Balboa Park and the Board of Directors of the Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks chapter of AYSO. Dunitz served on El Caballero Country Club’s Finance, Greens, and Membership committees and served as club President for two years. He has assisted in planning the ADL golf tournament for 15 years. Prior to opening his own real estate investment and management firm in 1986, Dunitz participated in complex general business and antitrust litigation.

Leonard Comden and Steve Wasserman are co-founders of Wasserman, Comden, Casselman & Esensten, LLP, a law firm in Tarzana. Both attended UCLA. The pair also co-owns Tarzana Development Company, which owns and manages commercial properties in the Los Angeles area. Both Comden and Wasserman are supporters of ADL and have been involved in many charitable, educational and civic organizations in the greater Los Angeles region.

The full day of tournament activities includes lunch, 18 holes of golf on the renowned El Caballero Country Club course, cocktails, a raffle, live auction, dinner and awards presentation. Proceeds from the event will go towards ADL programs that support the organization’s mission to combat anti-Semitism, hatred and bigotry.

As a kickoff to the 30th Annual ADL/El Caballero Golf Tournament, nearly seventy club members and guests attended an exclusive briefing with guest speaker Bill Lewis, Assistant Director in Charge (ADIC) of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, on July 25.

Alison Diamond and Ron Salter serve as event co-chairs. Each year over 125 golfers participate and more than 250 dinner guests attend to support ADL and the evening’s honorees.
