ADL Participates in Discussion on LGBTQ Rights Hosted by Loeb & Loeb

Loeb & Loeb hosted an evening of discussion on “The State of LGBTQ Rights” on April 20.  Attended by 50 attorneys, this CLE was sponsored by Wells Fargo and included a panel discussion by ADL’s Western States Civil Rights Counsel Michelle Deutchman (3rd from left), Lambda Legal’s Senior Counsel and Law and Policy Director Jenny Pizer (5th from left) and Lambda Legal’s Western Regional Director Rick Davis (2nd from left), pictured with Wells Fargo Senior VP Kin Cheng, ADL Regional Director Amanda Susskind, Gov. Grey Davis, ADL Regional Board Chair Ivy Kagan Bierman of Loeb & Loeb, ADL Regional Board Vice Chair Scott Harris, and Loeb & Loeb’s Co-Chair of LGBTQ Affinity Group Matt Kugizako.

The discussion covered a wide range of topics including on-going litigation pertaining to the ability of transgender individuals to use the restroom that corresponds with their gender identity, employment discrimination, the use of religion to discriminate and the importance of collaboration between like-minded groups like ADL and Lambda Legal.  Anthony Eftimeo, ADL’s Assistant Education Director kicked off the evening with an exercise from ADL’s nationally recognized A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE © Institute that focuses on the complex nature of identities and diversity.
