ADL’s Legal Advisory, Government Affairs, and Executive Committees met on October 7 to discuss an issue that will be the subject of debate at the Annual Meeting of ADL’s National Commission next month.  The policy at issue is the right to be forgotten on the internet.

Western States Counsel Michelle Deutchman gave an overview of recent legal developments in Europe in this area and related policies adopted by ADL’s National Commission.  Government Affairs Committee Co-Chair Scott Harris and Legal Advisory Committee Chair Jessica Babrick skillfully presented each side of the debate, and those present provided input and possible solutions.  The question presented was rejected in favor of a more nuanced policy to be considered at the Annual Meeting.
