Senior Associate Regional Director Matthew Friedman spoke before an audience of over 100 people as the keynote presenter at a Yom HaShoah event on May 1. The event was held at Temple Aliyah and included members of both Temple Aliyah and Shomrei Torah Synagogue. Friedman spoke about “Strategies for Responding to Anti-Semitism,” and gave an overview of recent anti-Semitic crimes and incidents, including the recent shooting in Poway. He also gave an overview of ADL’s 2018 Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, which showed a 5 percent decrease in anti-Semitic incidents nationally but a 27 percent increase in California. Following the presentation, there was a short Q&A then a Yom HaShoah memorial service.
