ADL staff participated in the Fifth Annual Cyber Crime Prevention Symposium, a conference dedicated to educating parents, administrators and students about a wide range of Internet-related security and safety issues., on November 8.
Western States Counsel Michelle Deutchman moderated a panel, Cyberbullying: Courtroom to Classroom – Can the Constitution Rein in the Bullies? that explored legal issues and developing case law surrounding cyberbullying. Panelists included Marc Beaart, Deputy District Attorney, High Tech Crime Division, County of Los Angeles; Margaret Graf, General Counsel, Archdiocese of Los Angeles; Andrea Grossman, Lieutenant, LAPD-Internet Crimes Against Children task force; and Suzanne Healy, Coordinator of Victims Assistance Ministry, Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Eva Vega-Olds, formerly Project Director of ADL’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ® Institute and currently ADL Education Division Director of Research and Communication, led CyberALLY® workshops for 150 middle school and high school students. She also gave a presentation to 100 educators and parents on Facing Bias and Bullying: Educational Responses.
