ADL presented a program, San Bernardino: One Year Later, co-sponsored by Jewish Federation of the Desert on November 29, 2016 at the Jewish Federation office in Rancho Mirage.
Following last year’s timely presentation to the Desert community on domestic Islamic extremism, ADL invited back FBI Supervisory Special Agent Sid Patel from the Riverside Field office to reflect on the incident at the San Bernardino Inland Regional Center, where 14 people were killed and another 22 injured. The other featured presenter was San Bernardino Police Department Lt. Michael Madden, the first officer on the scene at the December 2, 2015 attack. He shared his observations and memories of that day, followed by Supervisory Special Agent Patel, who shared the FBI’s role in the ongoing investigation. ADL Associate Regional Director Matthew Friedman moderated the event.
Prior to the event, ADL hosted a reception for ADL Desert Chai Benefactors (of at least $1,800 annually) and Second Century Campaign donors of at least $10,000 (in their estate plans).
The presentation was made possible through the generosity of the Helene and Melvin Berman Lecture Series, and provided the opportunity to highlight ADL’s work in the Desert and Inland Empire as well as continue to strengthen our partnership with the Jewish Federation of the Desert.
