Public, private and parochial educators from throughout Southern California joined with Holocaust survivors and scholars for Session Two of the 2014-15 Holocaust Education Institute on Friday, February 27, 2015.

Session Two, Experiential Holocaust Education, took place at the Museum of Tolerance and the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH).  Participants started the day with a VIP tour of the Museum of Tolerance’s Holocaust exhibit, followed by a tour of the new Anne Frank exhibit, and concluded with a short Q and A with the museum’s resident scholar, Aaron Breitbart.

The second part of the day took place at LAMOTH, where participants had time for self-guided exploration of the museum, followed by a presentation by survivor Dana Schwartz.  The day ended with a presentation on a temporary exhibit focused on the work of Father Patrick Debois to uncover sites of mass graves in Eastern Europe called Holocaust by Bullets – Yahad in Unum.

One participant wrote, “I was moved to tears, a wonderfully moving experience.  Thank you.”  Another participant shared their feelings as, “Moving, emotional, relevant, appropriate, well done, significant, complex, educational, thought-provoking, inspiring, hopeful.”
