ADL supporters gathered at the Rancho Mirage home of Jean Carrus for an Insiders’ Briefing with ADL Regional Director Amanda Susskind, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at the University of California at Riverside James Sandoval and UCR Professor and Director of Inland and Desert Hillel David Crohn. They shared perspectives and offered strategies to prevent anti-Semitism on campus.
The event included a special reception for Desert Chai Benefactors (of at least $1,800 annually) and Second Century donors of at least $10,000 (in their estate plans).
Sandoval and Crohn emphasized the pivotal role ADL plays in providing resources for Hillel professionals, Jewish students, university administrators and campus leaders. ADL’s on campus support includes information on anti-Semitism, religious accommodation, responding to anti-Israel activism and developing pro-Israel programming. As one example, ADL Associate Directors Matthew Friedman and Ariella Schusterman are scheduled to lead a workshop called Words to Action at UCR Hillel which gives students tools to combat anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment on campus.
