For the second year in a row, Volkswagen generously provided funding to ADL regions across the country to work with students, school staff and families to address and prevent bullying and cyberbullying. In the Pacific Southwest Region, ADL’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute provided 21 programs at 11 different schools and venues. The bullying prevention workshops and assemblies reached 1325 middle and high school students directly, with positive effects on the school communities that will have an impact on thousands more students. The Institute also offered workshops that reached more than 100 parents, family members, caregivers and school staff in the region with both bullying prevention and anti-bias skills. The vast majority of those served were classified as low-income students, their family members, or those working in under-resourced schools.
Maisha Reily, the School Director for Community Preparatory Academy’s two campuses complimented the program after two Step Up! assemblies and one Becoming An Ally workshop with her students:
“Both campuses enjoyed the presentations. The facilitators were very knowledgeable and engaging. Students and teachers saw areas where they could improve in becoming allies. Your program completely aligns with our student norms of compassion, productivity and accountability. Thank you so much for allowing our students to have this opportunity.”
